A Note from the Principal

Hi Parents and Boys and Girls,

The 2018-2019 school year is quickly approaching.   It is going to be a great year!   We are blessed with an excellent teaching staff to serve our students and families.  They are been working to prepare excellent lessons for students as well as the expectations and procedures that we have to help them be successful at school when it begins in August.

We are excited to continue our Meijer Accelerated Reader program again this year.  Last year, our students read 6,000 books.  What an awesome accomplishment!  This year, we would love to beat last year's goal.  Reading is such and important skill and helps students in all subject areas.  It helps to build vocabulary and improve spelling as well.  Instead of more screen time, try having a set reading time.  It is a great way for students to relax and wind down after a full day as well.  Did I mention the prizes?  Meijer grocery store provides prizes for the different levels and our classroom sponsors provide pizza for class milestones along the way.  Chicago's Pizza and Redline also provide prizes for students who read above the certificate level.

Our Bible curriculum explores several of the Westminster Shorter Catechism Questions, starting with "What is the primary end of man?"  Answer:  "To glorify God and enjoy him forever."  We will learn several questions and answers and by doing this really learn the foundatins of oru faith in Jesus Christ.  Each week students will learn a Bible verse that goes along with the question of the week.  On Fridays, we will have a weekly Chapel service at 9:00 am.  This is a time of fellowship where we will worship God with music, scripture and speakers.  Our mission at SPC is to Love God, Love Each Other, and Serve the World.  Along with our Bible teaching, we also encourage our students to serve in various ways.  We will spend time one Friday each month on a school service project.

We have a great year ahead of us!

Blessings,

Shana Hoffman, Principal
