This verse is our class verse for the year.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God” 1 Peter 2:9
Homework
We believe that homework is such an important part of the learning process. It reinforces the concepts we are studying here at school. Fourth graders should spend no more than 50 minutes on homework each night. On a weekly basis, the students should study the spelling list a few minutes each night (given on Fridays or Mondays), study the new memory verse, and make sure their homework is completed and in their IPOD binder to return to school. Homework will only be assigned Monday through Thursday. On occasion, the students may need a weekend to finish up a lesson that is already late.
Assignment Notebooks
Assignment notebooks are available to purchase this year. The students will be instructed on how to record their assignments in an organized manner. The notebooks are checked regularly each week for organization, completion and neatness. We are striving to guide and encourage our students to be organized and responsible for those assignments and responsibilities. The assignments are a vital information link from school to home.
Snacks!
The students are most definitly encouraged to bring a healthy mid-morning snack to school each day. It is a long time to wait for lunch, which is usually about five hours from breakfast. The students look forward to this break in the day and are then ready to scoot right along until noon. Please do not send any snacks such as cookies, candy, or others that contain a lot of sugar.

Spelling List
None this week due to ISTEP testing - week of May 7
Weekly spelling words are taken from the current novel units we’re reading, or a standard fourth grade spelling list. The class will recieve a new list each Monday in order to prepare for a practice test on Thursday and a final test on Friday. If a student passes the practice test, that test grade will be taken and no test then is required on Friday. Bonus words are almost always included for extra points.
Memory Verse
May 7 - James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
Each Friday the students will be asked to recite that week’s memory verse to the teacher privately. If the student knows his or her memory verse, as well as its location, he or she will put a sticker on a chart. Any student who does not know the verse after two tries will go to workroom to learn this verse. It is so important, in our Christian education, to know God’s Word. These verses are an integral part of our weekly lessons. “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” Psalm 119:105
