Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO)

The Institute for Quality Education has partnered with SPCS to offer our students a $500 scholarship for the school year for kindergarten through fifth grade students. Candidates are approved based on household income requirements established by the Indiana Department of Education.

If you believe you might qualify for a school choice voucher and your child has never attended public school, obtaining an SGO scholarship is most likely your first step in qualifying for a voucher in the future.

Indiana School Choice Scholarship (school voucher)

SPCS is a Choice School in the State of Indiana. State funds are made available to those kindergarten through fifth grade students whose household income meets guidelines set by the Indiana Department of Education. If a student's household income meets the state guidelines, that student must then have a pathway to qualify for the Choice Scholarship.

There are seven pathways and a student must only satisfy one of the seven. A brief yet not complete description of each pathway follows.

1. Continuing Choice Scholarship Student Pathway: The student received a Choice Scholarship in the previous school year.

2. Previous Choice Scholarship Student Pathway: The student received a Choice Scholarship in a school year not immediately preceding the school year being applied for.

3. Previous SGO Pathway: The student was awarded an SGO scholarship in a preceding school year.

4. Special Education Pathway: The student has a disability that requires special education and an IEP has been developed for that student.

5. "F" Public School Pathway: The student attended a public school based on their residence that has been assigned an "F" grade.

6. Two Semesters in Public School Pathway: The student was enrolled in a public school for at least two semesters immediately preceding the first semester for which the Choice Scholarship would apply.

7. Sibling Pathway: The sibling of a newly applying student recieved either a Choice Scholarship or an SGO in a preceding school year.
