Southport Presbyterian Christian School is a ministry of Southport Presbyterian Church.
PE - Mrs. Ebert

We're off to a great start to the new year in PE classes.  We have a few upcoming events that students will be participating in that are pretty exciting!

March : Jump Rope for Heart/Hoops for Heart

---Fundraising envelopes and information will be sent home in the next week.  Let's do our best to raise as much money for the American Heart Association that we can.  We did a great job last year and hopefully we can beat our total from last year!

---You can visit the AHA website for more information on the fundraising and how our school benefits! www.heart.org

April : Skatetime

---The kids have already been asking me when we start skating and the answer is April!  This is a great program the kids enjoy every year and gives them something different to do and have fun with! www.skatetime.com

May : Field Day

---Field Day is an end of the year celebration for the kids to wrap up the year we've had in PE and the school year overall.  We had a great time with it last year and a lot of wonderful parent volunteers to help me with my first one!

General Physical Education Information

All students in grades K-8 are required to wear appropriate tennis shoes in order to participate in regular physical education classes. This is not only for your student’s safety but it is part of the school dress code.

Students in grades 5-8 are also expected to wear a different shirt than what they wore to school for every P.E. class.  It does not have to be the green SPCS t-shirt, just a regular t-shirt will work as long as it is not what they wore to school.

Any student that comes to P.E. class without his/her SPCS shirt and/or proper dress attire will have 2 points deducted from his/her participation grade for that day.  There are a possible 10 points daily.

Special Awards

The Star Student Award can be given to any student who demonstrates a Christ-like attitude or behavior.  A student may receive this award anytime throughout the school year and may also earn this award multiple times.  The guidelines for being a star student are posted in the gym.  They will receive a certificate and a prize out of the prize bucket.

Free Days are awarded to the entire class. These days are fun for everyone because the students get the opportunity to choose what to do. The upper grades vote on the activities or games to play for the day while the lower grades choose something that has already been set out for them.
